Scaplens Court Wedding in Poole Old Town
Way back when to 2019 I had an enquiry come through Bark for a May 2020 wedding at Scaplens Court in Poole; me and the couple both decided to meet up at the venue so I could have a look around, and to then head off for a coffee to have a chat about their day, get to know one another and decide whether I was who they wanted as their photographer. 3 hours later after we'd done the above, I knew I'd met the loveliest couple and we ended up having a conversation like we'd been friends for years - I think they'd decided I was their girl there and then! Sadly, May 2020 came around and they had to cancel due to the big C! Then 2021 went by and things still weren't great so they had to cancel again! But, May 2022 was definitely their year!
Sal & Lins begun their magical day getting ready together with Lins' daughters at The Hotel du Vin in Poole, they were having their hair by French Avenue which was so lovely as I've worked with Becky before so I loved seeing her again. Their make up was by Maibel which was the first time we'd worked together so it was wonderful to meet her. I was so fortunate to work with these lovely ladies multiple times throughout 2022.
After the beautiful brides were ready we took a short walk to Scaplens Court, where my second photographer Phoebe had already been capturing guests arrival and the details that Sal & Lins had worked on for months in preparation for the big day. After a beautiful and very emotional ceremony - especially with Lins' daughter Ash singing them down the aisle. We were then able to capture their confetti, group shots and a few couple photos before the odd candid shot here and there at the drinks reception.
Before we knew it the time was flying and it was then time for scones and tea - to be honest this is a thing most people should start doing on a wedding day! Once they'd finished their beautiful speeches it was then time to chill out in the spring sun for all the guests, so we captured some more candids before Sal & Lins handed out gifts. If you're planning to hand out gifts on your wedding day, make sure your photographer is aware, as you can see below, there's always some great photo opportunities! Food is something my two amazing brides know how to plan well! As we were then treated to a wonderful hog roast, something I'd again definitely recommend!
And then the evening begun! After cutting their cake and having their first dance Sal & Lins had a surprise for Lins' parents, they had their wedding anniversary coming up so they gave them a cake and a gift, which was a really lovely moment to share. Once everyone had begun dancing I whisked the brides away to finally have some time to themselves and get started on their couples photos. Fortunately, Poole Old Town has some lovely spots so we were lucky for some spots to choose from, we also stopped back around to The Hotel du Vin quickly before going back to the party, which had very much begun!
This was an absolutely wonderful day, I'm so lucky to have met the sweetest people who treated me more like a guest, and now I'm so lucky as I'm able to spend another lovely day with them all at the end of 2023 as I'll now be photographing Ash's wedding day! I cannot wait.
