Having shot a wedding previously the year before at The Old Vicarage, I knew that when Courtney & James booked in for their April wedding it would be wonderful!
Upon booking, Courtney & James felt they didn't need any getting ready photos and wanted to focus on the ceremony and day itself, therefore they booked my Daisy package which includes 6 hours coverage. When I arrived at the venue, James was already there greeting guests, this gave me an opportunity to capture the gorgeous décor for their ceremony space, but also the chance to get some great candids of friends and family whilst they mingled.
Knowing what time Courtney was arriving, I whizzed out the front to capture this moment and have a quick hello with her before the ceremony started, she looked incredible! She'd been glammed up by the wonderful Enchanted Beauty Bournemouth and had some gorgeous flowers by Simply Flower. The ceremony was inside and filled with lots of laughter and love.
After the ceremony was over, I gathered the guests outside ready to do confetti whilst drinks were set up ready for the reception. Confetti was incredible! Typically I suggest paper as it falls so nicely, however, Courtney & James had so many dried petals it worked amazingly, I was so happy with the result. I then ran upstairs to capture a big group photo with all the guests, before letting everyone get on and enjoy their drinks.
Group photos were honestly some of favourites I've ever captured. I always capture the photo of everyone looking at the camera, as this will be the one that people will print, but my favourites are when you're all looking at one another and laughing - this bunch absolutely smashed this. Each group embraced it, just relaxing and enjoying the moment, creating real laughter and moments.
As time was now getting closer for food, which was supplied by the wonderful The Perfect Pig, I took the couple off for their first set of photos. This also allowed for them to have their first time together for the day, this is why I find these moments to be so important - as much as you'd like to spend time with your guests, it's so important to spend time together. The highlight for me was the gorgeous pink cherry blossom tree that was in the gardens.
Once the couple were announced in to the marquee, all the guests used their favours - scratch cards - but I don't remember there being a lucky winner! Then it was time to tuck in to their wonderful pies and desserts. Speeches then came with a lot more laughter and some tears.
Before the evening really began I decided to take Courtney & James off one last time for a few more photos, this also gave us a little more time to make the most of the of the gorgeous grounds at The Old Vicarage. Then once we came back it was time to play! Avid cricket players, it was a must for the couple on the day, and it was honestly a lot of fun for guests playing and watching. They also made the most of the rest of the space at the venue having other games like tennis and football.
To finish the evening, the couple had Coastal Discos for their music and I'll admit there were some very good dance moves!
This was honestly such a wonderful day and they were so incredibly lucky with it being early April to have glorious weather all day. Here's to hoping I'll be back at this wonderful venue again soon.

"Booking Lucy was one of the best decisions we made for our wedding! We don't particularly love having our photos taken, but from the very first meeting, we knew Lucy was the perfect photographer for us. She was warm, professional and completely on it. Her calm, organised approach took all the stress away and made everything feel so easy. On the day, she made not just us but all of our guests feel so comfortable, and we had so many people comment on how lovely and brilliant she was. The photos are absolutely stunning and capture the day so naturally and beautifully. We're beyond grateful for the memories she's given us and have been recommending her to all our friends and family - we honestly couldn't be happier!"
